FRCR 2A Exam
The FRCR 2A examination is a pivotal stage for radiology trainees in the UK and abroad, assessing their knowledge and application of the wide range of clinical radiology topics encountered in everyday practice. This exam is designed to test the essential core knowledge required for safe and effective practice as a radiologist and to prepare candidates for the final part of the FRCR assessment pathway.
Specifically, the exam focuses on the principles and practice of diagnostic radiology across all major body systems and subspecialties. Candidates are expected to demonstrate a solid understanding of the imaging features of disease, clinical indications for imaging, and the strengths and limitations of different imaging modalities, including X-ray, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, and Interventional Radiology.
The FRCR 2A exam consists of two papers, each with 120 single best answer (SBA) questions. Both papers are taken on the same day, with three hours allowed for each paper. Each question has one correct answer and is marked accordingly; there is no negative marking. The exam is held at test centres in the UK and internationally, providing accessibility for candidates worldwide.
Preparation for the FRCR 2A is essential, as it requires not only broad clinical knowledge but also the ability to apply that knowledge in problem-solving scenarios. The revision materials provided by FRCR Focus are tailored to these needs, offering an extensive and carefully structured question bank. These resources are designed to ensure candidates are comprehensively prepared, maximising their chances of success at this critical stage of training.
